It was a beautiful, colorful morning—one that promised to be one of the most talked-about weddings of the year. Top bloggers, reporters, comedians, and even music artists were in attendance, ensuring nothing was left undone. Political dignitaries were also present to grace the occasion.
Tobe and Tracy’s wedding was a high-profile event and the talk of the town.
The Honeymoon
The newlywed couple went off for their long-planned honeymoon in Hawaii. Tracy & Tobe had the best time of their lives. They vacationed for 3 weeks before they returned to start a new life as a married couple.
Tobe’s Disappearance
“Hello, Chuks, good morning. Have you heard from him yet?” Tracy was panicking, unable to stop pacing around the living room.
“Trace, you need to calm down. If anything had happened, I’m sure we would have heard by now.”
“But he tells you everything, right? Right, Chuks?” she asked with a shaky voice.
Chuks is Tobe’s best friend, aside from Tracy. He’s the only one who would have any information about Tobe if something were to happen.
After Tracy and Tobe returned from their honeymoon, Tobe stepped out on a Saturday morning, casually mentioning that he had some errands to run. He then went into a boutique, made some purchases, and left the country without informing anyone.
A week had passed without a single word from him. Tobe had paid cash for all his transactions, dyed his hair, and changed several of his usual outfits, all to avoid being recognized.
Tracy cried every day. Tobe’s disappearance frightened her so much that her parents urged her to move in with them. But instead, she invited her high school friend to stay with her while she waited for Tobe’s return.
“Mimi,” as her mother fondly calls her, “if anything had happened, we’d know about it. Your dad has put out a security alert; rest assured, everything is under control.”
Another week had gone by with no word from Tobe. This time, Tracy’s mother decided to visit after multiple attempts to bring Tracy back home.
Tracy’s Rebel
The morning after Tracy’s mother arrived, Tracy got up, took a bath, and cooked breakfast for both of them. Right in the middle of breakfast, another argument ensued between mother and daughter about the need for Tracy to move in with her parents.
“Mommy, leaving won’t be necessary. What if I leave and he returns? Or maybe someone hears something and comes by the house and finds me gone?”
“Oh, darling, please. It’s the jet age, not the 70s when a letter would take a month to get to you,” her mother rebuked her. “Get your things ready; we leave by 10 tomorrow morning.” Tracy quietly nodded in agreement.
The following day, Tracy’s mother woke up at 3 p.m. “My goodness! What could have gone wrong?” she exclaimed after checking the time. She went downstairs and found Tracy in her shorts with her feet up, watching her favorite TV series.
“What is wrong with you? Why didn’t you wake me up? How did I sleep for this long? Young lady, I’m talking to you!” she barked, seeing that Tracy paid no attention to her.
Tracy had added a portion of sleeping pills to her mother’s cup of coffee the night before. She needed some time to think, but with her mother’s incessant demands, it was going to be difficult to do so.
“You won’t talk to me? Did you drug me? No problem; let’s hear what your father has to say about this behavior of yours. And just so you know, you’re coming with me,” her mother said as she tidied up the bed.
P.S.: What happened to Tobe? Why did he suddenly disappear? Stay tuned to find out.
