The lovebirds met themselves in Rwanda. According to Juma, he said: “The first day I saw Priscilla in Rwanda, I missed my flight and could not get a business-class seat because it was complete. I was really angry and after passing through the business class section, I noticed she was laughing at me”.

Then, in July 2024, Priscilla publicly confirmed her relationship with Jux on social media. She spilled the tea about their relationship with a romantic photo post on Instagram, simply captioned “Mine.” That marked a new beginning of their love story in the public eye.

In August 2024, Juma Jux was officially introduced to Priscilla’s mum, Iyabo Ojo, a renowned Nollywood actress, for the first time. The following month, Iyabo Ojo teased netizens with a video from a pre-wedding photoshoot, expressing her happiness about her daughter’s upcoming wedding.

The Controversies Before and After Priscilla and Juma’s Vows

As elegant and grand as the wedding ceremonies were, they didn’t come without a few bumps. From social media drama to unexpected reactions, the days before and after the wedding stirred quite a bit of buzz both online and offline. Here are some moments that got tongues wagging:

1.  ‘ Papaya’s’ Aso-Ebi Fashion Backlash

Nigerian social media influencer Abike, popularly known as Papaya Ex, was caught in a crossfire after she wore a dress featuring the groom’s image positioned at the chest area, to Priscilla and Juma’s wedding ceremony.

The green aso-ebi dress featured both the bride and groom pictures; however, the bride’s picture was positioned in the stomach area, while the groom’s picture was on the chest (breast) area.

This unique styling was what led to the criticism, with many interpreting it as disrespectful or overshadowing the couple, especially when Papaya joked about the placement of the groom’s picture on her chest.

Despite the backlash, Papaya defended her fashion choice, categorically stating that she aimed for a unique and head-turning look and that her intentions were pure. Furthermore, she explained that she never intended to cause any offense or sexualize the situation.

During the ceremony, a video captured the moment Priscilla playfully asked why Papaya Ex had placed a picture of her husband on her chest. She responded with an apology, saying, “It’s all love.”

2. Mange Kimambi‘s Political Warnings and Iyabo Ojo’s Clapback

A Tanzanian blogger by the name of Mange Kimambi was brought under fire after cautioning Priscilla and her Tanzanian husband, Juma, to stop posting loved-up photos or videos on social media during Tanzania’s political season.

The drama unfolded on Instagram, where Kimambi made a post requesting that they both “lay low” and avoid sharing content during this time, as Tanzania does not need any form of distraction.

According to her, Tanzania is in the fight of a lifetime, she explained; “we are fighting for our rights”. Also, she said they could resume posting after 5 months, when the elections are over.

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, fondly called ‘Queen Mother,’ wasted no time in defending her daughter and son-in-law. Reacting to Kimambi’s post, Iyabo Ojo expressed her displeasure while accusing the blogger of intimidating and disrespecting her daughter and son-in-law.

The actress warned the blogger sternly to keep Priscilla’s name out of her affairs. Saying, “She’ll post whatever she likes, when she likes, and how she likes. She doesn’t need your permission to post, she is very loved and well-loved. We protect our own. Never forget that”.

3. Headies Award Drama

Tanzanian singer Juma Jux and husband to Priscilla recently won the award for The Best East African Artist of the Year at the 17th edition of the Headies Awards held at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.

Juma Jux was accompanied by his beautiful wife Priscilla to the event. During his acceptance speech, he dedicated the award to his wife, his management team, his family, his JP fans, and the award organizers for their recognition of East African music. Also, he performed his hit song “Ayo Mi Ti De” (meaning my joy has arrived in Yoruba).

However, a Twitter user, identified as Oku Yungx, sparked a controversy online, suggesting that Juma’s marriage to Priscilla was a calculative plan to gain popularity and awards in Nigeria. “Lmao. The game is the game,” the user tweeted.

Priscilla responded to the tweet by sarcastically confirming the claim, hailing her husband as “smart, calculative, and hardworking..”

She wrote, “Yes, o, he got married for Nigerian recognition and the Headies Award. The game is the game, my brother. Shout-out to my husband, such a smart, calculative, and hardworking man. I’m so lucky. Big love to JP fans for voting. We love you.”

Her response to the tweeter triggered further reactions, with another Twitter user warning her not to provoke backlash from the platform’s often merciless users. Another user warned her not to start what she can’t finish, noting that Twitter people ‘no get joy’.

Meanwhile, Priscilla kept her steeze and remained unbothered, stating she was simply celebrating her husband and standing by the “game is the game” narrative. “I’m praising my husband and supporting the statement. There is nothing to start and finish here,” she replied.

 4. Lizzy Anjorin Responds to Rumors of Bitterness

Lizzy Anjorin, an actress and businesswoman, addressed some rumors regarding the Nollywood actress’s daughter’s wedding in a video. In the video, she stated that she has no ill will or feelings towards Priscilla Ojo while also debunking the rumors of jealousy towards the wedding and the union.

She said in the video, “Let’s forget about the mother. Let’s face the daughter. Who will ever hate such a wedding? Who dares to hate such a wedding?” The actress praised Priscilla for growing into an admirable young lady while wishing her and her husband well in life.

Iyabo Ojo and Lizzy Anjorin were colleagues in the industry before Lizzy Anjorin went fully into business. They have had several heated arguments online in the past; however, no one knows the root cause of the issue between them.

5. Priscilla Ojo Unfollows Bestie ‘Beauty Goddess’

After the wedding, Priscilla Ojo had unfollowed TikTok influencer John Merry, popularly known as Beauty Goddess, following a statement she made about the wedding.

Beauty Goddess stated that the wedding invitation came at a time when she was busy and had booked a flight to travel, hence she couldn’t attend, also it wasn’t enough reason to cancel her flight plans.

Her statement in the video sparked discussions about friendship as she unfollowed her shortly after. Beauty Goddess made a post on Instagram and apologized for how she expressed herself.
